Highlights

Nohur Lake

Nohur Lake, formed post-WWII to provide water to nearby villages, boasts pristine waters and stunning scenery. It's a popular tourist spot with well-established facilities around Nohur-Gol. The reservoir supports aquaculture and rowing, with ice cover reaching 40-50 cm in winter. Ice formation begins in late December, usually thawing by late March, but timing varies yearly due to weather fluctuations.

On the opposite side of "Yanardag" another hill used to burn for thousands of years, but as its natural gas leakage moved on due to tectonic shifts the three flames ceased to burn a few hundred years ago. Nevertheless, this fire is believed to have inspired the symbol of Baku which features three flames and the sea. Around the Absheron Peninsula more of these burning rocks used to exist and were used as sacred places by Zoroastrians in ancient times. The larger Yanardag reserve offers more heritage sites such as an active mud volcano, a natural sulfur spring, the Girmaki valley and others which can be visited with one of our tourist guides.

Yeddi Gozel Waterfalls

Yedi Gozel Falls, also known as the Seven Beautiful Waterfalls, resides in Gabala city, a renowned tourist spot and the country's tallest falls at 53 meters above sea level. It cascades in seven stages, with only two visible from below. To witness all seven, visitors must ascend stairs, requiring some physical exertion. Yet, the reward is a captivating panorama. Amidst the dense, sun-shielded forest, the falls offer a cool, shadowed ambiance. Adventure enthusiasts will find a restaurant and tea house nearby, adding to the allure of this natural wonder.
